We are all aware of how dangerous too much sugar intake is on our body, but if we can’t get away ourselves with sugar, how much more with oil? With almost every food we eat on a daily basis contains oil, especially if we aren’t very keen on our diet, we always devour foods that are very unhealthy.
Vegetables oils from canola, corn, cottonseed, palm, soy, sunflower, safflower, rice bran, and grapeseed oils, are actually far worse than the sweet stuff. Listed below are the harmful effects of vegetable oil in our body:
1. It can cause weight gain.
One of the most popular vegetable oil, the one that we can always see in the labels of few packaged foods is the Soybean Oil. For years, people have thought that it is the best alternative to fats like butter, but it actually poses great risk to your weight. Soybean makes the body develop larger fat deposits and will most likely make us become diabetic. It was concluded that because soybean oil has high omega-6 fatty acid it could contribute to our weight gain. Though these omega-6s are very essential to our health, excessive intakes of it can cause increase our appetite and slows down our body when burning fat.
2. It May Diminish Brain Function
According to Dr. Cathering Shanahan, vegetable oils are the “brain’s worst enemies”. They increase the risk of brain conditions like Alzheimer’s and Dementia. These studies were also confirmed by Professor Martin Grootveld of De Montfort University Leicester, when he released statements about sunflower and corn oil. He stated that if these oils are cooked over high heat, they release toxic chemicals called aldehydes that have been linked to dementia, c****r, and heart disease. If you want alternatives for these oils, use olive oil, butter, and goose fat which produces fewer aldehydes.
3. It Can Harm Your Ticker
Americans started to use vegetable oils instead of butter because of the increasing rates of heart attacks in 1950’s, thinking that these oils could lessen the risk of heart diseases. Unfortunately, these oils bring more harm to the heart, even British Medical Study found out that consuming too much of vegetable oil causes plaque buildup in arteries, which is the main contributor to cardiovascular diseases.
4. It’s Filled With Carcinogens
Another scary fact about vegetable oils is the high level of carcinogens that it contains. These compounds causes c****r and other diseases. It is also found in Kitkat Bars, Nutella, and Cheez-Its. Now, do you still think it is healthy when it is included mostly in junk?
5. It Can Cause Inflammation
Since these oils have high concentration of the inflammatory fat, omega-6, and are low in the anti-inflammatory fat, omega-3, your body puts your immune system in a state of attack. - Grapeseed oil
ditch it and prefer to use those with healthier fats like olive, coconut, avocado, and peanut oil.
Remove all the remaining vegetable oils in your kitchen and replace it with the healthier ones. If you cannot help and still want to use these oils, you can as long as you don’t use them over high flame, but preferably might as well use olive oil to be safer.
