Nadine Lustre is one of the brightest stars of her generation. Her biggest break started with the movie “Diary ng Panget” and projects came one after the other. She is now called Multimedia Princess. But do you know that before Nadine made it big in the industry, she was an ordinary performer and part of Viva Entertainment’s all-girl group Pop Girls. Korean pop music was the in thing that time so Viva Entertainment decided to create a counterpart. The group was composed of five teenagers who have a talent for singing and dancing. At that time, Viva announced that there will be an audition and after thoroughly choosing from the hopefuls they have chosen the five girls; most of which are foreigners except for Nadine.
Lailah and Mariam Bustria were two of the original members of the group. The two are Lebanese twins while Rose Van Ginkel is half-Dutch. Shy Carlos is half-Swiss. As everyone knows, Nadine is Filipino and she was just 15 years old at that time. Two of the group’s hit singles include Crazy Crazy and Urong Sulong. The songs topped the hit charts of both radio stations and music channels in the country.
The group also became a part of the now-defunct variety show in GMA-7, Party Pilipinas. The group lasted for three years and after their contract with GMA-7, the members of Pop Girls, Shy and Nadine had an opportunity to star in several drama shows. The two became a part of the weekly youth show, Bagets: Just Got Lucky produced by Viva Entertainment. After Party Pilipinas, the Pop Girls also became part of TV5’s Saturday variety program, Hey It’s Saberdey.
Nadine got her biggest break when she was chosen to play the role of James Reid’s leading lady in the movie, “Diary ng Panget”. The two became freelancer at that time and were regular guests in the variety show, Sunday All Stars. The two became a Kapamilya officially in 2014. Their first teleserye in the network, On the Wings of Love was a big hit.
