Being an OFW is very hard, you live alone and away from your family. You endure the sadness and homesickness by spending your time working hard just so you will have little time to remember them.
One of the jobs that entails time away from the family is being a seafarer. You spend months onboard, looking at the same faces, having only the vast seas to comfort you when you are lonely and sad.
Most of the time seafarers cannot communicate with their families for a long time, there are certain places that have no network signal and they cannot access any connection. Thus, it is very hard for them when they are in a long distance relationship. Oftentimes, they betray their lovers or their lovers betray them.
One seafarer named Kien Morales Cartagena, shared his sentiments over social media. He posted a screenshot of the message of his ex-girlfriend that contained a very heartbreaking and enraging news.
Kien was working very hard as a seafarer meanwhile his girlfriend who was left in the land got pregnant by some other men. The woman also told Kien to take care of himself and to not contact her new boyfriend to avoid any conflicts.
Kien was deeply hurt with the incident this he posted the screenshot in social media. He said that he had been working hard onboard so he could save up for their future, he is really enraged when he knew he was betrayed by her.
He even intended to tag his girlfriend on the post but she already blocked him. Many people commented on his post saying how much they were angered by the woman’s doings. While there are others who advised Kien to move on and be careful next time he chooses to be in a relationship.
We cannot anymore say that seafarers are “seamanloloko” because nowadays cheaters don’t know their limits anymore.
It is sad that certain things keep happening but this teaches us one thing and that is to always be careful when choosing the person we choose to be with. But then again, these things can never be prevented thus let us just enjoy the company of people while it lasts.
